He said, "f my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Oh, yes, Robert, you are so right, your poem is to the point. Let us raise up, let us humble ourselves from our lofty feelings of being more deserved than that homeless person.. let us seek the Lords face for I am sure it is turned toward those who we so often turn away from. Let us turn from our ways... from which we are harvesting our own children's destruction...Let us do what is right... and watch the world change. For then will The Lord hear us when we pray... for we will know how to pray when we have a heart like his. And then He will heal our land...Us.Laura Ruth Hogstonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16914322315538090086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1381316072170104778.post-51628472677079041722010-12-23T23:56:26.366-05:002010-12-23T23:56:26.366-05:00This poem is powerful and hits one in the gut.

You never cease to amaze me how you can point us wayward writers back to the path of righteousness in the work of our calling.
I have been in a place lately like a fishing line snagged in a tree, hanging just above the place of my purpose but so entangled in a place I shouldn't even be in that I can't get there. I know they are there hidden in my soul. But what do I speak of? What stories do I tell? How do I put into words what's transforming in the depths of my heart? I love it when the words of the soul stir up to the surface. It's a "coming alive" inside of me.

Thanks for sharing your heart here. I couldn't agree with you more. He said one time he went 9 mos. and didn't see daylight. He went in the mines before sun up and stayed in til after nightfall. It was during the depression..
